Diamond Mine
The wombat says: Now then. If there was ever a time that is wombat would have liked to have been alive it would have been during the North American Goldrush. Imagine: One day you’re having a paddle in a creek minding your own business, and the very next you’re a ruddy millionaire! Sadly those days are long gone but you can still dig for gold and riches at Wombat Casino with games like Diamond Mine slot.
If you think this game bears a striking resemblance to Bonanza slot, then you’d be right – apparently Big Time Gaming sold the licence of their unique ‘Megaways’ game mechanic and Blueprint Gaming have picked it up. The result is this Diamond Mine. Let’s dive right in, and see if we can’t find some real gems. Pick axe at the ready Wombat fans!
About the Developer
Just like Volkswagen and Bosch, Blueprint Gaming are a brand synonymous with quality Wombat Fans. OK, they’re actually a U.K-based game studio but are part of Germany’s much bigger Gauselmann Group.
Blueprint have been creating slots since 2008 and are best known for making quality games for the online and mobile casino gamers. But did you know hat they also create 1000s of land based gaming terminals across the U.K? No, nor did we… You learn stuff here too! Some of our other favourite Blueprint slots include: King Kong Cash and Magic Ian both of which can be played here at Wombat Towers.
Look and Feel
Set in front of a big old mine, the theme of this slot is the Californian Gold Rush (in case the incessant banjo twanging soundtrack didn’t give it away). Your reels are set amongst the red rocks of the California desert and you’ll see a sprinkling of cacti in the desert landscape too. Overall the cartoon graphics are well done, but it’s the game play that really marks out this slot. This ain’t no traditional game like the Unicorn Bliss slot my Wombat Buddies- oh no, we are talking heaps and heaps of Features here all with a capital F.
And speaking of which…
Game Play
Diamond Mine slot has an impressive 6-reel ‘Megaways’ game mechanic. Let’s explain: reels 1 and 6 can have from 2 to 7 symbols during each spin, while the centre 4 reels can have 2 to 6 icons – the reels will land with a random amount of rows in this range. That’s a wee bit more complex than your standard game like the Twinkle slot machine for example. That’s the Diamond Mine!
Basically, every time you spin, you’re not only getting a brand new bunch of icons; but you’re also getting a new random set of reels. On any one spin, a reel could just have 2 rows – but on another – a reel might have up to 7 symbols on it.
The number of ways to win will be shown in the top left corner of the reels (so you don’t have to work it out yourselves, no one as got time for that) – but put it this way; each spin can offer anything from 324 to a maximum of 117,649 ways. WOW!
Not being very good at maths, these are the kind of sums that really blow this wombat’s brain.

Plus, after your wins have been paid on each spin, the winning icons are removed and replaced with new ones that drop from above and keep dropping until no more winning combos are formed – it’s a bit like the avalanche symbols in Gonzo’s Quest. Here’s a tip: you might want to try the Moirai Blaze slot if you like this kind of mechanic- there’s a 7×7 grid a la Candy Crush that has plenty of cascading symbols going on in it.
Your symbols on these mega sized reels include the standard playing card symbols, 9, 10, J, Q, K & A as your low value icons, plus a precious diamond, the chubby and vertically challenged old prospector bloke, some spades to help you with your diamond digging and of course a stick of dynamite to blow the whole ruddy thing all up.
As you’d expect, the diamond is the most lucrative symbol in Diamond Mine slot; land 6x of these sparkly bad boys on neighbouring reels and you could scoop a cool 50x times your stake! Cheers Blueprint!
Look out for the stick of dynamite which is the Wild symbol in Diamond Mine slot; it will do the usual job of all wilds to replace every other icon on the reels (except the scatter) to make up extra winning combos for you.
The sacks of gold are the Scatters here, and are the key to activating the bonus game.
Mystery Barrel Icons
You’ll also see stacks of TNT Barrels that will randomly appear on the reels from just 1 or 2 positions to stack on 4 or more reels. These explode to reveal matching symbols which may help you get bag some very large winning combinations indeed! So they’re basically like cool exploding wilds. Awesome.
Free Spins and Bonus Features
Land 4x of the golden sack Scatters and you’ll scoop 12 free games where every single win increases the win multiplier by 1 , and there’s no limit on how high they can go. In fact this wombat has seen as high as 20x! Which certainly got our paws a-tingling… Add the mystery barrel feature to this round and you really are laughing all the way to the bank!
Conclusion
Diamond Mine Megaways slot really is as mega as the name suggests. With 4 bonus features and the preposterous number of ways to win it’s almost impossible not to pick up some chunky wins.
That said, this wombat thinks that the mystery TNT Barrels are the key to the really big pay outs here, and they help make up the game’s overall RTP to a very respectable 96.43% – so keep your eyes peeled for them, especially in the Free Spins.
Grab your spade and let’s get digging for those diamond wins! There are definitely some to be had here, and you’d be a crazy galah to miss out.
